We have had quite the winter’s storm these last two days. I snapped this as I pulled into work. It was an awesome moment in the quietness of the morning.
Then I got this one as it was shining behind the Church steeple

I wish I knew how to use Photoshop. Could you imagine how wonderful these shots and the Challenge Photos could look with just a little enhancement?
Tomorrows the big day! I have asked Santa for a better new year. I sure hope I, WE, get it.
note: After I got home I tweaked the above photo if you care to see click here.
Wow that is simply gorgeous! A white xmas instead of a sunny hot one, how cool (literally) 🙂
I have always lived at the gulf coast where it is always warm and sunny, well as an adult. I moved here 8 years ago and things have never been the same. It looks pretty but it is cold nose, cold teeth and cold feet all winter.
The pictures are beautiful but it looks like you live in the middle of nowhere!
Kate I do live in the middle of nowhere. about 9000 ft on top of a mountain, 704 people. smack in the middle of the Lincoln National Forest. It is a world unto it’s-self.
This looks like the perfect Christmas village. I love the way you caught the light behind the steeple. Merry Christmas!
Bongo, when I saw the sun peaking about the tree line I grabbed my camera. I could not believe how the sun moved so quickly behind the steeple. It was foggy and snowing. It was lovely.
Hi,
Beautiful photos, just stunning.
Have a very Merry Christmas, and I wish you all the best for the New Year. 🙂
Thank you and Happy Holidays to you too.
Wonderful photos! Merriest Christmas, may your wish come true.
Merry Christmas to you and your family Rita.
Lovely photos. Thanks for sharing.
Merry Christmas!
I have lived here for 8 years and never saw this before. I am so happy I had my camera.
Merry Christmas!
Back at ya honey! Hope Santa was good to your babies
And it’s going to be very hot here today!
Woman, pack up your son and Dearly Beloved and get yaws booty on over here. Snow is at 24 inches this morning. No more in the forecast for a little while. Come on while the getting is good.

Happy Merry Christmas to you too.
Great pics, have a wonderful Xmas!
You too. No more tats now, ya here. BTW you promised to post a pic of it. Well???
I was going to suggest you offer this one for the Between Challenge. The pictures are perfect! Happy Holidays! 🙂
WOW. That might have been a really good one. I wish I would have waited to post now.
What a beautiful setting! I totally envy you the snow. Hot chocolate just isn’t the same without it.
I nominated you for the 7×7 blogging award! You have a fantastic site, I always love visiting. Please don’t feel obligated to pass it along unless you want to, since I know it can be time consuming. Merry Christmas!
Thank you LBG. I promise as soon as all the hoopla calms down here I will try to get right on it. Thank you again.
What a wonderful scene! Have the merriest of Christmases. I certainly hope you get your Christmas wish.
Red, Bear & the brood.
I can only imagine your house on Christmas Morning! Whoa, I would need a lot more that hot chocolate to keep up with all those younguns’
I like the photos even without Photoshop. What a great shot with the light behind the steeple. That would make a great Christmas card.
Thank you YS. That is a great idea. Every year I have the hardest time picking out our Christmas Cards. I am going to hang on to this one.
Very beautiful photos. I love them. The light was just perfect wasn’t it?
I hope you had a very, Merry Christmas!
Yes it was. Like I said earlier, I have lived here for 8 years and had never seen that happen before. I am going to take that as a sign my Christmas wish will come true this year….for us all.
The light absolutely makes the pictures! Wonderful timing. As for your Christmas wish, how did that fare? I hope it came true!
This is gorgeous! Happy Holidays!
And to you too Ellis. BTW I love the Love Letters. Very cute and original.

Though photoshop does do some cool things, I don’t think you could capture anything more beautifully than those natural shots. What a fantastic pair of photos. Love it! They are great….Merry Christmas!
Thank you Rodney
Love your photos. Thanks for sharing.
Well, thank you for looking! I love your blog. When are you going to travel through NM and enrich our lives with cool little tid-bits?
Beautiful photos. I don’t even know where you work and you make me want to go there. Happy Holidays and good luck on your Christmas wish.
The little building on the right of church is a small, and I can’t stress S M A L L enough, Wild Bird Store. All of this is located in Cloudcroft, NM a very tiny village full of wonderful people and forest. I have this love hate relationship with it. Every time I think I want to run away to the big city I find myself on another adventure up here and forget about running.
It looks very beautiful and cozy. Silly me…I don’t think about snow in New Mexico. I’ve only been once (White Sands) and that was back in the summer of 1984.
I live right up the mountain from White Sands. I love to go there after it rains. The sand is perfect for sand sculpting.
I was 14 and can only remember going to some bat caves. I most certainly remember the smell. Maybe one day I will get out there again. I would love to take my kids on some “traveling” vacations….instead of a beach or theme park vacation.
It sounds like you had a whirl-wind tour of the southern half of NM. That bat cave is in Carlsbad and it the most awesome place on earth, at least that is what Daughter says. White Sands is in Alamogordo and I am on top of that big old mountain you see to the east. A traveling vacation sounds fantastic! If you guys come through here let me know. I know of a couple of other cool things to see while here.
My mom use to live in El Paso, so we went there with her. She also lived in New Mexico. I have two boys who love adventure, so anything like that, they would love.
The setting is gorgeous. Amazing picture – no photoshop required. Wow … isn’t the air really thin at 9k ft??
9,000 ft is high but after a couple of adjustment days it is no different than sea level. The only time I start breathing hard is when I go over to Sierra Blanca It is about 11,000 ft. I just have to take my time when I hike there.
How perfect to have captured the light surrounding the cross! And what a beautiful setting–so lovely.
Perfect scene! thanks for sharing
Lovely photos 🙂 Thanks for visiting my blog!
What gorgeous photos. Don’t think they need any touching up at all. Looks like wonderland!
Your photos are beautiful, almost surreal. I wouldn’t change a thing. Where do you live again? Disney or heaven? 🙂
